Mary is the associate director of communications at the Boston-based Barr Foundation. Mary leverages strategic communications to advance the Foundation’s mission and its programmatic goals to elevate the arts and creative expression, advance equitable solutions for climate change, and enable all high school students to realize their unbounded potential.

Mary shares responsibility for the strategy, oversight, and evolution of the communications department and oversees Barr’s digital strategy. Over her ten years at Barr, the organization has grown its public profile and its investments in grantee communications.

Prior to joining philanthropy, Mary worked in the nonprofit sector at two economic development organizations. At Michael Porter’s Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), she led marketing efforts for the organization’s small business programs and economic research.

Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts in communications and human development at Boston College.
